Excelsа

More than 7% of all coffee production is accounted for by this type of coffee. It was only 1% of the world's market share a few years ago. Because of the long ripening period, coffee is still considered to be rare.

The fact that it is resistant to drought, as well as other coffee diseases, and therefore can easily be cultivated also makes this coffee special.

Be sure to check out the farms of Bicol, Quezon, and Sorsogon as well to see for yourself. And see with your own eyes how this variety is expressed.

Excelsа in the Philippines has a distinct taste that can be compared to the sweet taste of jackfruit, which pairs perfectly with its seductive fragrance.

The caffeine content in Excelsa coffee isn't too high. Which could be a big plus.

It is sometimes said that Excelsа coffee is more mysterious and complex than other coffees, although it is smoother. Philippines coffee Excelsa is known to the world for its extraordinary taste of berries.  It's all fruity, creamy, caramel, earthy, and full of flavor.

A blend of berry and fruit notes reminiscent of popcorn blends well with the medium to mild roast flavor. There are notes of chocolate and cream in the dark roast, a richer body.

Coffee Excelsa has a distinctive aroma thanks to the country or place where it is produced. The outcome is affected by the different soils and climates. Although Excelsa has primarily been cultivated in Africa and Asia, other countries have also grown it with varying degrees of success:

  • In Costa Rica Excelsa becomes sweet, fruity, and clean;
  • The Brazilian variant goes to caramel, chocolate, tobacco;
  • Colombian – nutty, earthy, spicy and silky;
  • Guatemala is more chocolate, citrus, and floral;
  • Ethiopian is bright, floral, and fruity.

Excelsa has an advantage over the others because of its ability to grow at high altitudes. The beans of excelsa are high in antioxidants and nutrients, which make it a good choice for those who wish to enhance their health.

 The Excelsa coffee beans can be used in cold brew, French press, and pour-over. It's a tree plant, not a shrub compared to Arabica or Robusta. He grows in the vertical and needs to be carefully cared for.

 Resistant to a wide range of illnesses and pests, Excelsa beans are more pulpy than Arabica beans and contain less soluble solids.
